Lucky Dux is a teacher-designed school readiness program for kids aged 3.5–5 years, helping them build the skills, confidence and independence they need for a successful transition to Prep.

Sessions take place in my warm home classroom in Carnegie, with just four kids per group, so every child is genuinely known, supported and encouraged.

But Lucky Dux isn't just about preparing kids for school. Parents are part of the pathway too.

I’m the founder of Lucky Dux. I’ve been working in education settings since 2013 and have been a VIT-registered primary school teacher since 2017. Over that time, I’ve taught across Victorian primary schools and delivered targeted intervention programs in Queensland, working with kids from Prep through to Year 6.

A big part of my career has involved working with kids with a diverse range of needs. This gave me a deep understanding of executive functioning, emotional regulation and the very specific skills that can make starting school feel easier — or much harder.

I’m passionate about helping kids build the skills, confidence and independence they need to feel capable and confident as they begin their school journey.

As a teacher…

I kept seeing the same patterns. Kids starting school without the independence, confidence or emotional readiness they needed to navigate a busy classroom. I also saw how difficult it was for teachers to give every child the individual support they needed.

And then there were the parents who genuinely wanted to help, but simply didn’t know how. I often heard, “We just don’t know how to help,” or “I didn’t even know programs like this existed.”

As a mum…

I understand the other side of that experience too. The hope you carry for your child, the quiet worry that they might struggle, and the feeling of wanting to help but not always knowing what to do.

That’s why Lucky Dux is designed to support both kids and their parents. Kids have a small, calm and structured space where they can build the skills and confidence they need, while parents are kept in the loop about their child’s strengths, areas for growth and individual needs, with practical ways to continue supporting those skills at home.
